The Human Battery Project is not medical care

This program is health coaching and research. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition. Nothing on this site, in the program materials, or in any conversation with a coach is medical advice, and none of it establishes a physician-patient relationship.

Talk to your doctor first

Before changing what you eat, starting or changing a training program, or beginning cold or heat exposure, speak with a licensed physician, particularly if you take prescription medication, have a diagnosed condition, are pregnant or nursing, or have a history of cardiac, metabolic, or musculoskeletal problems.

About the bloodwork

Blood draws are ordered through a partner laboratory under a requisition signed by a licensed physician. We are not that physician. We use your results to build and adjust your protocol and to calculate your Battery Score. We do not interpret individual markers as evidence of any condition. If a result falls outside the laboratory's reference range, we tell you and refer you to a physician. Acting on that referral is your responsibility.

About the Battery Score

The Battery Score is a composite index we built for this program. It is a way of tracking change across ninety days. It is not a diagnostic tool, it is not validated for clinical use, and it should not be presented to a clinician as a medical measurement.

If something feels wrong, stop

Chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting, or severe or unusual pain mean stop and seek medical attention. In an emergency, call 911.

Cohort results are not evidence of causation

All participants in a cohort follow the same protocol over the same period, with no comparison group. Any change observed between the day 0 and day 90 measurements cannot be attributed to the protocol alone: coaching attention, seasonal variation, individual circumstance and ordinary statistical regression all contribute. We report what changed. We do not claim to have shown what caused it.

No guarantee of results

People respond differently. We do not promise any particular change in any marker, in how you feel, or in your body composition.
